What is the relationship between Beauty and the Beast and King Oedipus?

I have a vague idea of what the connection might be, but I need the support and information or atleast examples in history to support any claim Any version of Beauty and the Beast will include the story of Cupid and Psyche

Interesting question. The most obvious connection is that the main character (Beauty / Psyche and Oedipus) does not know the true identity of his / her "lover" (using the term loosely in the case of Bella). Beauty does not know that the Beast is really a changed man, Oedipus does not know that Jocasta is his mother. Of course, in one case, the acquaintance (Beast) is less interesting than the character's true identity, while in the other (Jocasta), is the true identity must reject the protagonist. That is, Bella falls in love with Beast * * although he is a beast, if she knew he was in fact a man who would fall faster. For Oedipus, is the opposite: if Jocasta was his mother knew he would never have married her. There is also the subject of curses. Oedipus was cursed father, right in the beast was cursed. The Beast's curse was one that could be undone, while the curse of Laius was destined to play from the beginning. There was no antidote. In the curse of Laius, innocent people suffered. With the curse of the Beast, Beast just suffered. Cupid and Psyche is an interesting twist, at least when it comes to the action of the story. In this case, actions of Psyche and the revelation of hidden identity (which hides the light and the awakening of Cupid) who created a kind of curse - in the psyche. Also could argue that it is Psyche, who is "cursed" for being too beautiful, so he sent away from his family, though she did nothing to deserve the punishment (unlike Layo or Beast). It is entirely due to the jealousy of a goddess. Again, this is different from the two Oedipus the King and Beauty and the Beast, which is the culprit that is cursed, and cursed is the person whose identity is unknown. I've always liked the story of Beauty and the Beast, and that an independent study on it, Cupid and Psyche, and the book by CS Lewis, "Til We Have Faces" at the university.
